I think I did it now. I told myself and my friend that we had to stop responding to the political things we posted on Facebook. I tried. I really did. And then I posted one that was a challenge and my friend wrote back something like "Really?". I tried to back pedal and another friend caught me trying to excuse myself and stand up for what I'd posted.
So, first, I'm apologizing for getting involved and making digs at people I care about because they think/feel differently than I do.
Which leads me to the question.
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH US?
None of us actually know the candidates who are running. But, we know our friends and families.
What is it that makes us so crazy that we insult people we love defending people we don't know?
I truly believe that neither of the candidates gives a rats ass about the middle class, or anything that doesn't in some way benefit them.
So. WHY THE HELL ARE WE FIGHTING EACH OTHER?
For some reason, we are brought up to believe that we are supposed to belong to one or the other political party. And, as my son-in-law brought up, how the Hell did we wind up with only two? But it is what it is, so we have to choose. Or maybe not.
BELIEFS CAN BE OUR ENEMY.
The area that belief usually comes into play is in religion. That is because it's faith based and not fact based. This is true about beliefs as well. We hold a belief even when it doesn't make sense.
example: HE HITS ME BECAUSE HE LOVES ME.
CONCLUSIONS:
We are self-destructing over our beliefs.
We are acting irrational due to our beliefs.
We have handed our brains over to our emotions, due to our beliefs.
WHEN THE ELECTION IS OVER AND WE ARE LEFT TO GO BACK TO OUR LIVES, WILL BE HAVE OUR BELIEFS AND HAVE LOST SOME OF OUR GOOD FRIENDS?
WAS FIGHTING OVER THESE TWO ASSHATS WORTH IT.
THAT'S IT. THANKS FOR READING.
I found it interesting that in two of my three text books, there is no mention of politics in the indices. I do recognize that it is a science unto itself. I did take a course in Poli Sci way back in college. Of course I remember my professor. He was relatively young and passionate about the subject and I enjoyed the class.
During my college years and my early twenties, I was moderately active in the political scene. Of course those were the years when students in America were being shot, there were riots on campus, and actually all around the country.
I attended demonstrations, worked for mayoral candidates and helped take over an administrator's office after the Kent State Shootings.
Generally, whomever I was backing, lost. That held in many elections as well. It took a long time before someone I voted for actually won.
I don't want to stay I stopped caring. I still care about what happens to my country. Other countries. The poverty, starvation and depravity that seems endemic to our kind.
I began to realize that no matter how much I cared, nor what little I did, things stayed the same. I would say that we helped stop the War in Viet Nam because I believe that possibly, it's unpopularity interfered with some greater scheme and so they decided to end it at the time they did. It didn't matter. It had already destroyed so many lives.
Politics? Politicians? Is there a difference? They represent the same thing. A system designed to allow us to believe we have some say in the governance of our countries. Since I live in the USA, I'll stick with what I know.
Politics is not governance. Governance, I think, is the actual running of the country. That's probably why they call the men in charge of the states, Governors. However, there appears to be a huge disconnect between governing and politicians, who become the government.
Why do they make me sick? That's easy. They lie, they are corrupt and they play us like fiddles. Our two party system has devolved into a terribly divisive institution. And whoever it is, who actually runs things is laughing at us all.
I've been able to vote since I was 18. Something less than 50 years. I can say that in New York City, the mayor had power to change some aspects of my life. Since I worked for the City, it meant whether or not my pay would go up or stay the same. I also watched as the school system deteriorated over the years and I don't think the mayor was the cause.
The long and short of it, is that no matter who ran the country. My life stayed the same. I chose a path, strayed, changed, but still, nothing that I could say made a difference regardless of who the people were running this place.
What has changed, only in that it has gotten worse, is the venom that people spew when talking about politics.
I was at a lunch with some friends this week. One teachers adults English. One of her students asked why we have two years of electioneering. The answer was so the parties could raise money.
Again, when I was young, we had a few months of debates and campaigning and that was it.
Now, it's nearly constant. For money? We have to listen to this bullshit. We have to watch ads on TV for two years so they can raise money to make more ads to tell us how horrible the other candidates are.
I want to keep this short.
hypothesis:
Elections in America are for show. Everything that happens, happens behind a curtain where the Wizard of Oz is pulling the strings and projecting his magic.
The people, have been taught from an early age that our country is different.
That we have the privilege to vote. That anyone can grow up to be president.
I believe that the people in charge, set us against each other in order to deflect the attention from them. Of course, we don't know who they are. That's part of the dilemma. People believe that their vote counts. If that were true, how is it that the people we are voting for are not the people that we want to be running? The game is rigged.
CONCLUSION:
You can have as many debates as you want. You can actually believe you have a choice in who to elect. You do. Two people are "selected' and that's your choice. Do we actually have a say in any of it? I think not. Not anymore.
Any large country will need delegates. Everyone is corruptible. So, if you want to waste your energy and hate the people who don't like your candidate, go right ahead. Hate Obama. Hate Clinton. Hate anyone you want. But think about it. For most of us, has it made a difference in our lives? The difference came from economics and it was the bankers who bought the politicians so that we could lose our houses and not have jobs.
So, fight amongst yourselves if it makes you feel better. It just makes me sick. We should be embracing each other as "fellow Americans" and not see each other as the enemy because that is exactly what the politicians want. And they always get what they want. We, on the other hand, will always get screwed. And not in an enjoyable way.
This was never meant to be a political post. And it wasn't. I mean choosing a dog is a very personal decision. And, you don't need a primary or caucuses to get to a place where you have a few possible candidates to either buy or adopt.
Actually, it is sounding like the same thing the more I think about it. Shit. Why can't anything be easy?
I absolutely believe in freedom to choose. Pretty much, everything we really do is our own choice. Even if it's not to make a choice.
My problem is when there are too many choices and I get overwhelmed.
I was not overwhelmed in my choices of who to marry. I guess I'm really, really grateful for that. My high school grades weren't that good, so I didn't have many choices of where to go to college. That too is another tale which will be told by the idiot who made those poor choices back then, but not now.
You usually are constrained by some factors when choosing. Some are financial. Money always plays into your choice, like can you afford to do or buy what you think you want? Time. Have you got a time frame, or one you must meet? Like you'll be homeless if you don't find a house or an apartment? Or your eggs will slowly decay and that's not a nice thought.
Preferences are big. What is your taste? What do you like? Do you know why you like it?

In my case, physical issues come to play. Allergies, infirmities, age, all play a role in the decision process.

Also, if you are anything like me, you've been told that you think too much. Like that's a BAD thing.
I am now back. You didn't even know I was gone. 14 hours later. I've lost the flow.
The day really sucked, but, sometimes it does.
So, back to choice. I want a dog. I want the love, the companionship, the fluff, the special bond. I don't want to have to walk it in the rain, clean it's butt (non-allergic dogs are generally white), clean up when it has accidents. Take it to the vet when it's sick and then, lose it. Although, if I were to get a puppy there is a chance it could outlive me. Then what? That's how we got our Benny. His very old master died and no one in the family wanted him.

And of course, my husband. He wants to wait and not get a dog as small as Chloe. Maybe bigger than Benny. But my allergies, and my heart. That's what I want. I think.
We were very lucky. Chloe was not at all yappy. She was really well house trained. She was a bit aloof and so in ways she was like a cat.
Benny only yelped if you hurt him. Otherwise, no peep. He either couldn't or wouldn't bark.
What if we get a yapper? Or a bad personality? I always said I was lucky with Chloe. I couldn't claim responsibility for her good temper. Just that I hadn't ruined it.
And now for the politics. It might be simpler if we did a Westminster Dog Show for the candidates. Have someone put each one on a leash and walk then around the ring with the announcer talking about their breeding, pedigrees and so forth. I'd especially like to see when they get lifted on the table by their balls. Hillary would have a one up on that at least.
I mean, really. Where did these candidates come from? Did they fall out of the sky? Land on their heads? I have lived through many elections where I felt it was the lesser of two evils. But now, it is likely to be the lesser of two weasels.
I like Hilary. Don't crucify me. I'm a woman. I'm practical. I believe that anyone who has made it anywhere it the political arena is a liar and a cheat. I think it's a joke that each one calls the other one names and gets offended when it gets hurled back.
So, a puppy or a rescue? It has to be a rescue, but do I have patience to deal with whatever issues it will have? Probably.
Can't we pick a rescue for President? Someone who's been misused and would appreciate the love and support they'd never known.?
I know. I'm being ridiculous. Oh yeah. That's my name. No matter.
THEORY:
When people are given too few or too many options, they cannot make a choice.
This is because people are easily overwhelmed. We were not created to make these kinds of decisions. Survival meant knowing what was edible and what was not. Who was friendly and who was not. One mistake and you learned what the proper choice was.
I again cite human evolution being far behind the evolution of man. We are going to think ourselves out of existence. Unless, of course, I'm thinking about things in the wrong way.
THAT'S ALL FOLKS
